YOU BOUGHT ONE OF OUR SOY CANDLES - NOW WHAT?

It’s time to light it up – but wait! There’s a few things we want you to know first. What’s there to know about lighting a candle, you ask… well a lot actually.

The first thing we want you to remember is the first burn is the most important! Weird right? There’s a few things we like to remind our clients about soy candles – first off, soy has a memory, so the first burn will set the tone for the rest of its candle life. You want your candle to be off to a good start in life – so remember to allow the wax pool to reach the edge of the glass on the first burn – but don’t let it burn too long. Candles shouldn’t be burned longer than 3-4 hours at a time, the wick should always be trimmed to ¼ inch long between burns, and candles should never be burned near another heat source (yes this includes other candles – keep them at least 6 inches apart!). Oh, and keep that candle on a heat safe surface, away from drafts, children, and pets! If you ever forget any of this (or if this list is boring and just too long), flip our candle over and read the fine print on the bottom – we’ve included it in English and French!

HOW LONG WILL MY CANDLE BURN FOR?

Our 7.5oz candles will burn for approximately 40-60 hours
Our 14oz candles will burn for approximately 80 to 120 hours

DO YOU CREATE CUSTOM CANDLES FOR STORES, BRANDS, or EVENTS?

Yes we do! Contact us for pricing. We can also provide lists of brands we’ve worked with in the past upon request.  We're also happy to create your custom scent for weddings, birthdays, showers, and more!

Even more - we love to collaborate!  Are you a hand made vendor in Ontario that wants to colab? Send us an email and we can chat! Past colabs have included pottery candles with Toronto local potter, the Otter Potter, and a concrete candle colab with Toronto local cement artist, Homebody Collective!

Candle Recycle Program:

We are introducing a candle vessel recycling program!

For every 8 empty, cleaned vessels with lids that you return – you will receive one small candle!

  • All 8 jars & lids must be cleaned (please see cleaning instructions below)
    • To clean your jars: when the candle has about a half inch of wax left in the bottom, scrape out the hard wax with cutlery (spoon, fork, butter knife – whatever you feel most comfortable using);
    • Boil some water and add it to the jar (about an inch of hot water) to loosen all remaining wax and the wick sticker from the bottom of the jar
    • Continue to scrape the wax out of the jar using cutlery noted above. You should be able to release the wick sticker as well – now that the hot water is in there.
    • Any remaining hot water in the jar: toss OUTSIDE or in a jar. DO NOT put this down your sink.  Wax could harden, clogging your pipes.
    • NEVER add the jars to a microwave, as the wick bottom is metal.
    • Once the jar is clean of wax, simply wash in the sink or in a dishwasher and it’s ready to be returned!
  • This offer is valid in Select stores and in person markets only (see below for more information)
    • In person Markets: When in person markets begin again, you will be able to contact Sara before the market at sara@sarassoapsandcandles.com to arrange the return/exchange for your free candle.  Communication before the market is required to ensure extra boxes are available for the returns or to inform staff of your exchange.
    • In person pick ups in Etobicoke or Cobourg: If you order online and would like to drop off your jars during pick up in Etobicoke or Cobourg, simply email Sara at sara@sarassoapsandcandles.com to arrange exchange of your jars/lids for a small candle.
    • Stores will be added here when Ontario starts to reopen, and select stores opt in to the recycle program. Please note, a lot of stores are rented space, so we are unable to offer the recycle program, unless it is during a restock day.  Sara does these in person and would be happy to meet you at the store – simply contact her at sara@sarassoapsandcandles.com to discuss dates/times for restock dates.

Want to use your jars for something else?

Use the cleaning instructions above to re-use your candle jars!  Ideas for reuse:

  • Use as a vase for fresh flowers
  • Store your trinkets
  • Use as drinking glass
  • Use as measuring cup
  • Make into a soap dispenser (by adding a spout)
  • Add some fairy lights to it and make it a mini outdoor lantern (or as home décor)
  • Plant a herb garden
  • Make it into a bug catcher (poke holes in the top)
  • Use as a tea light holder!
